Ms. Dima Zogheib

Dima is a leader within Arup’s Cities, Planning and Design team. Trained as a landscape architect, she is a specialist in resilient, inclusive and nature-positive cities working at the intersection of landscape, climate and cities. She has extensive international experience spanning over 30 cities globally, focused on future-proofing cities, integrated planning and design, and innovative public realm. She has led and delivered complex and large-scale projects from concept through to delivery, smaller-scale community initiatives and planning for resilience. She often works on visionary projects, recent examples include a Green Infrastructure and Open Space masterplan for Thimphu in Bhutan, nature-based interventions for Tirana, the Oman Botanic Garden, developing resilience strategies for over 25 cities with 100 Resilient Cities pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, and an award-winning design vision to create a child-friendly Belfast. She regularly speaks and writes about city design and planning through the lens of resilience, climate, people and nature.

To date, the urban built environment has typically had a negative impact on climate and nature. This workshop will explore the concept of 'Nature-Positive Cities' - defining the concept, how the climate and nature agendas converge, and the need to make the economic case for nature. The session is a call to embed nature-positive design to move from business as usual to impact at scale.
The workshop will include case studies and active participation on views around the awareness of biodiversity and what are the opportunities and barriers.
