Sustainability and Wellness Efforts

Sustainability at ULI Europe undertakes research and programming aimed at addressing the increasingly important connection between real estate development and the issues of sustainability, climate change, and urban resilience, at a global, regional, and local level.

For the 2024 ULI Europe Conference, ULI Europe has worked alongside Allianz MiCo and various vendors to promote sustainability and wellness practices.

From collaborating with eco-friendly caterers and providing healthy meal options, to implementing 14 water bottle dispensers throughout the venue, free of charge, we are committed to prioritizing health and wellness. The reduction of print materials and recycling of event resources, such as name badges and lanyards, contributes to our goal of achieving zero-waste events. Caterers supplying the food at both the main Conference and Conference Dinner, Compass and Ta Catering, both work with Foundation Banco Alimentare, who will collect and re-distribute any surplus food from the ULI Europe Conference to Food Banks.  If attendees do not intend to participate in sessions or meals, we kindly request they notify the ULI team ([email protected]) in advance to prevent any excess food.

Additional practices and equipment have been incorporated to reduce the carbon footprint and energy usage throughout the event. ULI Europe uses FieldDrive, a touchless check-in, to offer a seamless arrival and check-in experience. FieldDrive uses an eco-friendly event practice to ensure a lower carbon footprint. Specifically at Allianz MiCo, new generation LED lamps reduce energy consumption by up to 40% and the use of resin flooring offers durability and flexibility to accommodate a variety of event needs. To promote biodiversity in the surrounding area and counteract the botanical impoverishment, Allianz MiCo is strongly engaged in an urban beekeeping project with the goal of reintroducing bees in Milan.

The use of public transportation, such as Milan bike sharing or metro, is highly encouraged. See a map with more information.
